CONSTANTLY waiting if your appointment is a 10:00am good luck she wont be seeing you until at least 11:30. Once you get in she rushes through as if you are a burden to her and heaven forbid you ask any questions regarding your health. On top of that charges you for things that are covered by OHIP such as a functional abilities form. This is not a letter she should be charging for – will also get $ from OHIP so is double dipping. And if you want to get a new doctor she charges $300 dollars for your medical files to be transferred over. So my family of 6 thats $1800.00 for her to send an email what a crook. Strongly DO NOT RECOMEND if you want a doctor that will actually treat you like a human.

  we apologize for your experience ,though there are few issues are NOT CORRECT AT ALL in your review.
  First : functional ability form is not covered by OHIP ,so it’s a form doctor’s offices will ask patients to pay for them to be filled .
  
  2nd issue: we don’t charge 300 $ for record transfer .This is a complete wrong information. I’m sure NO ONE told you something like this . so NO NEED TO POST Some misleading and false negative information here
  
  3rd issue : In every doctors office ,there could be some waiting time ,depends on the day, as doctors might need to attend to emergencies ,or could take longer with some patients .
  
  4th issue : In fact , our doctor is very thorough and detailed , she spends time with each patient , she doesn’t spend less than 20 min – up to at times could be 45 min with her patients as she takes care of everything . so she doesn’t rush anybody out .in fact we need to knock on her door in a lot of times and ask her to keep moving to the next patient , as some patients takes forever ,more than what is suppose to be of normal time for any visit , when a patient show up with multiple issues / list .
  Though to make waiting time less we encourage patients to focus at the most important thing or two ,and then we are more than happy to give them another appointment for the less important issues

Not sure what teenager drama is happening with this review page, some reviews are unprofessional but also some responses to them are also unprofessional.
My experience:
The first two virtual appointments I had I was instructed to go online at the appropriate time and wait for the doctor. I waited an hour and a half one appointment before giving up, only for her to call at 9pm and I didn’t pick up the call. Second appointment I waited an hour before giving up, and she never called me at all. She told me on the third virtual appointment after I waited and gave up that the front desk should have informed me to only wait for her call and then go online and the earliest it would be is 7pm. I don’t understand why they book an online appointment for 5:30 or whichever and then call whenever they want. Her appointments have been brief, she can be direct but I would want a doctor to tell me things straight without beating around the bush. There is someone currently working at the front desk who very much struggles with English so it can be difficult to get around the language barrier. I’d avoid telling her if you smoke marijuana because a huge focus of your care will become trying to get you to quit. The Dr will listen to your concerns and usually has no issues with getting blood work done or tests. Do I think this office could be run better? Yes but I’m hoping she will see all the feedback and make the changes. She currently has a bad reputation in the neighborhood and people will actually tell you to NOT go to her so obviously some improvements need to be made

Dr. Kassem has been my primary care physisian for three years. She’s the best doctor anyone can have. ive been through many docotrs no one quite like her. I think that Dr. Kassem is wonderful. She spends enough time listening me and my problems and tries to find the best solution for me. I sometimes feel a bit bad because I know she has to move on to her other patients, but, her staff says she does that with everyone. I have been going to dr. Kassem for about 4 years. She is my primary doctor, she is the best. But also the office people are awesome, they’ve been working there for years. They really keep the office running smoothly and fast. Oh and they actually call YOU when theres changes or lab results. And if they can’t answer your questions they go ask they doctor and call u back. I don’t know any other doctor’s office that calls u back.

I called for an appointment with Dr. Kassem about a problem. I saw her the next day, had a good visit and an examination and heard her advice. Katie was very helpful by removing wax from my right ear (a different issue). Overall a very helpful experience.

As always, the welcoming at the door is superior to any office I visit. The receptionist are rated highly professional and kind and supported to the patients. Dr. Kassem is very friendly and professional also. The lap girls are superior in taking blood and all lab works. Would not go any where else.

have been seeing Dr Kassem since I was roughly twelve years old. In many years of being her patient, there has never once been an illness or a traumatic event in my life that she hasn’t been ready and willing to help me through. Her and her team have gone above and beyond in so many instances, but it was this week, when I turned to them as a panicked first time mom of a very sick ten month old baby, that I truly appreciated the level of care that her office provides. They exceeded my expectations in care for my son and I am forever grateful for how thorough and kind Dr Kassem is. I respect her direct and informed opinions and have every confidence that she continues to stay up to date on current medical trends and advise. She works incredibly hard and continually prioritizes the well-being of her patients. I cannot recommend this doctor enough.

I’m unbelievably lucky to have access to a family physician at all, but to have one like Dr. Kassem who listens to us, always shares her opinion frankly and directly, and connects us with the people we need to see when she knows we need to see them, is a truly priceless thing.

That she continues to do so here, in this province, after what a series of governments has done to her profession, is humbling. We really need a better way to show our appreciation than by typing words on a website.

Dr Kassem is one of those rare medical professionals who is a champion of health, not just treating symptoms. Her makes her passion for her patients’ thriving clear in every single visit. As someone said in another review, her care feels like out of another era: she doesn’t rush, she listens deeply and patiently. She is knowledgeable and intelligent and sincerely caring. Some other reviewers mentioned some hiccups in getting appointments set up — but setting up a new practice will have inevitable hiccups, and I have only seen Dr Kassem and her staff attentively take all the progressive steps necessary towards building a truly health-centered medical practice. Highly and unequivocally recommend. And I previously lived in the United States and had top-of-line medical insurance. Dr Kassem care is truly second to none.

This office has several sets of steep stairs and no elevator making it impossible to access for patients in wheelchairs, walkers, etc. I’m sure this would include a large portion of the patient population here.   But putting anonymous same reviews recurrently all the time, that is constantly talking about punctuations ,accents and similar things is not productive at all, neither acceptable
  
  First of all. We don’t think you are talking about Dr. Kassem at all. Yes Dr. Kassem spend at least with every patient 40-50 min, and recurrently we ask patients to stick to the reason of the visit and not to bring every thing or list of things in one visit, as this is literally impossible for any one to address every thing at one visit. She is kind enough and try to please every one, and to address as many issues as she can, and this literally put us behind every single day ! And some people don’t listen and keep pushing unfortunately. We had to knock on the door to get her out in a lot of times as her next patients are waiting
  
  For you to say, she doesn’t answer simple request and question , I’m 100 % sure you are not talking about this Dr
  I attended a lot of visits with this doctor, and we believe that she go far and beyond to make sure every thing is addressed , answered for her patients and investigated! All tests and preventive things for all her patients are at the top !

    I am absolutely talking about Dr Manal Kassem at 11 Cross Street, part of the Hamilton Family Health Team, whom I have already contacted to lodge a complaint. Instead of being so defensive and “shocked” by these reviews and claiming they are fake you should be taking them seriously and trying to improve your bedside manner. Interesting that a poorly written 5 star review magically shows up after almost every real negative review , right around the same time as the reply to that negative review…

I saw the doctor today for the first time and I must say she is a passionate lovely human .I felt I know her for years she was patient with my multiple issues and diseases and was kind enough to help me with the proper investigations and medication too. Her assistant is amazing too

My husband is a patient of this doctor and I attended with him today and I truly enjoyed thevisit, doctor and her assistant are both thorough ,I felt he was pampered with care. And what a beautiful office,Ohh my God we love it but we loved her care too

Reading some of the reviews, I noticed some people are trying to through negativity about the place,I completely disagree with that ,we have been there many times and always treated with respect by the doctor and staff,doctor spent a lot of time with each one of my family, kind and knowledgeable
Some people here need to be more kind too bad if you are not happy, remember we need those doctors and this doctor to be honest sent me to every test possible to figure out that I have celiac at the end, for what I’m grateful as I have been suffering for years till I found her

If some one is not happy you can’t generalize we need to be kind for each other I believe she does more than her best and cares from the heart but if some one is not happy probably they need to go search for happiness somewhere else and you will know the difference

Hilarious reading all of these fake good reviews which conveniently have the exact same incorrect punctuation as the very unprofessional replies from the office!
I’ve had the exact same experience as everyone else complaining here – condescending, rude attitude, doesn’t actually listen to you, talks so much you can barely get a word in, brushes off your concerns, calls at random hours late in the evening and not even on your appt day, I could go on. Treats her staff terribly (if they’re not related) and I’ve never seen or spoken to the same receptionist twice so she clearly has trouble keeping people there. Then as I read other reviews here I found she’s been charged with assault? Yikes. Get a new profession if you’re unhappy. Never felt so uncared for by a doctor. It’s very clear she’s just in it for the money. When I found a new doctor there was such a difference I actually broke down and cried of relief, I don’t think I realized how stressed I was from the awful care from this place. Stay away!

I used to feel tired for years , and doctors couldn’t figure it out .
Though since been with Dr. Kassem she kept checking and looking into this issue , and kept ordering specific tests.Now we found the reason I have slight decrease in my kidney function with some findings on my adrenal too.I’m so thankful to her as she directed me to the right specialist after.
I feel the best now due to her great effort, I’m in safe hands for sure

If I could give zero stars I would. This is easily the worst doctor I’ve ever had the experience of being with. This woman has ASSAULT CHARGES and continues to operate a practice. She gives no assistance with anything. Acts like it’s a convenience store with how she responds to bad reviews of her practice. Maybe that’s why they are saying you don’t listen Kassem? Because you respond to reviews saying that it’s not fair in very poor grammar and English. Reading comments above too she literally responded saying if someone wants to go see dr woods they should go to them when Kassem bought the practice from Dr Woods after she retired. Absolute idiocy and not a single idea of patient standards here. Needs to be shut down and has been reported.

Dr. Kassem is diminishing of patients feelings and needs. Patient autonomy is one of the most critical aspects of health care and Dr. Kareem discourages patient advocating because she claims she “is the doctor”. This is unacceptable in healthcare. Patients have complete rights to ask questions and express concerns about their plan of care and Dr. Kareem expresses aggressiveness to this.

  Patients can definitely advocate for their health, but with Dr. Kassem you don’t need to advocate for your health. There could be a mis understanding to what this statement meant , as Dr. Kassem clearly explain that to all her patients .
  “ Please give me your symptoms and complaints , and let me explore that , we will take detailed history , and assessment and advise you of the investigation and treatment plan after my assessment “
  You will not need to push the doctor to do certain investigation or tests as she will give you the proper investigation immediately after her assessment without any delay and she will advocate well for your health before even you think about it .
  
  Definitely you are allowed to ask any questions you want or you can express any concerns with her . And all will be addressed .
  
  The issue might arise when a patient google the internet and come with certain diseases to the doctor and certain diagnosis in mind , and request certain testing or referrals.
  The doctor would need to ask for the symptoms and your concerns to assess your case before starting to order tests based on the internet / or Dr. Google
  
  Some patients unfortunately don’t like it when the doctor ask for the symptoms and strongly start to ask for certain tests or investigation based on what they read on the internet .
  We strongly recommend to avoid reaching your own diagnosis based on the internet / or google , etc
  
  Just come to see the doctor and bring your complaints and symptoms and the doctor happily will asses you and thoroughly ask questions about your issues , and she will give you the proper investigations needed even before you ask for them
  
  Dr never suggested – that you shouldn’t advocate for your health because “ she is the doctor “
  In fact , she wants to advocate for your health even before you think about it.

I have to say I am actively looking for a new family doctor for my family. Dr. Woods was the best and when Dr. Kassem took over, I have experienced such terrible care. My husband was charged $150 for each (4 in total) dr note he needed and was asked to pay cash only. She’s very rude, won’t listen to patients concerns. Your opinion doesn’t matter, only what she suggests. Late night phone calls and when we recently used the on call service, the dr on call was well aware of her and said that many of Dr. Kassem’s patients use the after hours care to avoid seeing Dr. Kassem. Definitely shouldn’t be a family dr.

  Your comments are not true , and not fair either .
  There is no such a fee for a doctor note ,
  Doctor’s note have fixed fee of 30 $ only , and Every office or family doctor will charge for that
  Insurance forms or other forms like APS forms , etc have different charges depending on its amount of work and length.
  For that reason , we believe what you are saying is not true at all, and you are trying only to sabotage the doctor and the office.
  
  Dr spend a lot of time with each and every patient and she is very thorough, and lots of her patients love her for that
  So it’s not true and not fair either to say : she doesn’t listen, if she doesn’t listen she would spend with you no more than 5-7 min, but in fact she takes a lot of time with each and every patient , and send patients to all tests and investigations and I top of all preventive care.
  This is trial to bad mouth the doctor and it’s not fair at all
  
  If you feel that you want to see Dr. Woods as she is better for you , we strongly recommend that you go and see her then

  However if you know the doctor well ,you wouldn’t say that at all, as the doctor spend a long time with each patient and listen carefully to multiple concerns per visit and go thoroughly through them. some times we need to knock on the door as she might be with one patient for over 50 min or one hour . we all work excessive hours since the COVID as she appreciate that patients have more concerns and she doesn’t want them feel uncared for . we don’t think spending lots of time with each patient would make extra billing or any billing at all.usually you go to the doctor and within 5 min they leave the room to go to next patient

Have to say, if she is going to write fake good reviews of herself, at least change up the punctuation. Almost no one on earth adds a space before every comma and dot, yet a lot of 5 star reviews and the offices’ replies all have that.. something is fishy.

As for her abilities, she may be very smart but she is aggressive on the phone and feels like a bully. Appointments are never available and she had the audacity to ask why I took so long to speak to her. I told her I made an appointment over a month ago and could only get in now, and she became quiet after that.

    Race and accent were never mentioned, calling a patient racist is a serious allegation that absolutely will be brought up to the right people. A physician should never make such serious allegations, that are clearly defamatory of a patient.

I’m a patient here for so many years , we are thrilled at the change .Dr. Kassem is really spending time with me and my husband and dragged my attention to my health I always have some mental health issues made me careless about my health , but she brought me back to life again after been just a number for previous doctor for years , for what I’m absolutely grateful for her and her care . My family has been at this office for many years now with Dr. Woods. She would be absolutely taken back by the disrespect and unprofessionalism the takes place in this office. It is impossible to make an appointment or get any help at all. She says to make a phone appointment or contact through email but will not respond. After several months of bad customer service, my family and I have started looking for a new family doctor. While searching we discovered that Dr. Kassem has been charged with assaulting someone in Oakville in November of 2021. That is not someone I want to rely on when it comes to my health and wellbeing.

And to her office staff that is responding to these comments of people giving their honest reviews, the reason we give fake names is to not get caught up in your “legal actions”. We have a right to voice our opinions and this is why they are anonymous. If you aren’t okay with having negative reviews then I suggest you do something about the way you treat your patients.

I’m new patient with this doctor for 6 months , I find her nice , knowledgeable, polite , caring , and have a good sense of humour too 🙂 she was giving me some results and did her best to put my mind at ease , as I’m a worrier . Yes we like her . Her staff are courteous , there could be some changes here and there but that’s normal I have seen it every where since COVID . Same in our office and every other doctor I know . I work in a dental office and we have the exact same issue . It’s hard now to find people who are willing to put effort to work .

Since it is clear she is monitoring this, not a previous staff but a previous patient. Dr Kassem is a bully!!! She has yelled over the phone, hung up on myself and another one of her patients who i know because people actually stand up for themselves. I had to wait 2 hours for my appointment to see her even though I was the only one in the office. Dr. Woods would be upset if she knew all her patients were leaving and being treated this way. I had her secretary tell me she could not mail me my form for blood work because I live in Dundas,I could either pick it up myself or have it sent somewhere. Another friend needed something filled out to go see his partner and she made him pay alot of money that he didnt have. We found online that she should not be charging for these, so she was doing it all for the money. Shes so rude and aggressive unless you bow down to her. I feel sorry for her staff!! No wonder she has had so many front desk staff in and out. She most likely bullied them! I found a new doctor by the way DR. I suggest everyone do the same!

She is very thorough , detailed oriented , and you will realize when you see her that your health is in safe hands . I went to her with massive neck pain which I thought it’s muscular . She took long history and her time in examining me then she decided this needs immediate MRI , she rushed that for me and as she expected she said ( you have nerve compression ) and that was it , put me direct I touch with specialist , and I did my surgery . I’m recovering now and in really good hands with her . Such an angel by all means . I can’t forget her smile to me when she said I’m happy that you are feeling better . Truly love her . Dr Wood would be disgusted at how Dr. Kassem treats her patients. I have not heard a single good thing from anyone who is a patient of hers. She is so disrespectful and unreliable. Every appointment Ive has, she has spoken to me like literal trash- all she does is talk directly over you rather than listening so she can get the full scope to help you to the best of her ability. She may as well have said she thinks I’m an annoying idiot because that’s basically how our conversations have gone. She is verbally abusive to her patients… It’s horrible. She has WAY too many patients for her practice and boy does it show. She is impossible to get an appointment with, and if you get one, she will call you at 8pm or later and she will be so impatient that you wont even get to say half of the things you want/need to say. She is THE most unprofessional, disrespectful health care worker I have ever dealt with in my lifetime. When speaking about my mental health, she advised that I stay on all my medication because “from the sounds of it, you need it”… Who says that?? When I stick up for myself while speaking with her, she has ‘sushed’ me before and told me I ‘better listen’… I am on waitlists for 2 different doctors offices and I cannot wait to get away from this horrid woman. She should be suspended until she remembers where her heart is, because it is not with her patients. Shame on you.

Dr. Kassem is very rude and dismissive. She does not listen to her patients concerns and rushes you out the door. I waited 2 hours past my appointment time for an in-person visit and was rushed out after being told she would only discuss one concern. Phone appointments are also terrible, calls at 7 or 8pm at night. I would give her zero stars if I could. Will be looking for a new family doctor.

Went to Dr. Kassem for arm pain been there for more than 2 years , she asked so many questions and details , and sent me for tests urgent . She told me if pain is worse to contact her . After her thorough investigation I was diagnosed with thoracic outlet syndrome . Now I’m waiting on surgery . I came with this pain 2 years ago to the previous dr she said I slept wrong .
Can’t believe she figured out what I have .
She is amazing , I call her now my HERO
the staff are professional and friendly .
I’m in good hands , and usually I don’t write reviews but this time I felt I need to say big thank you

Dr. Kassem is absolutely horrific. She will not see patients, calls you at 9 or 10 pm and asks you to go to emergency rather than making an appointment to see her. She has cancelled multiple appointments and after 2 years of being my family doctor, I have yet to actually meet this woman. She would prefer to consult by phone and collect money by referrals to emergency rather than actually doing her job. If she is your doctor, run, run far away. She should be reported to the CMA.

I’ve had numerous telephone appointments with the doctor and she has referred me to all the right specialists. She has done thorough bloodwork and found some health issues i didn’t know i had. I am glad i have Dr. Kassem as my doctor. No complaints from me.

Great experience with the doctor and her team . I got a call from the assistant first who was lovely , then the nice doctor followed and did a great assessment asked a lot of questions and got me some tests to do not only this she advised me of some preventive testing just knowing that we have family history of cancer , the surprise that I didn’t ask for that .certainly she was very very thorough and impressed me , encouraged me to look after my self and my health .

Doctor is very unreliable. I’ve had 2 scheduled appts this year and both of them were canceled the day of. Very long waiting time in the office even with a scheduled appointment. Dr yells at her staff and can be aggressive with the patients. Staff also can be very unpleasant on the phone. Dr doesn’t review files quickly and can respond you about urgent issues months later. Definitely would not recommend.

I never had any appointment less than 25 min, despite she is busy . if you are sick and need help this is the right doctor , you won’t be shovelled like other places or doctors . I sent my neighbours to her as she is amazing . good doctor , highly recommend her

  I have wanted to write a review for quite some time. All these negative reviews that I have read are absolutely true! My family has been with Dr. Woods for years and her replacement, Dr. Kassem is an absolute joke! She is rude, demeaning, charges the maximum amount of money for doctors notes (only cash accepted so there isn’t a paper trail) will only refer you to a clinic if she is getting a percentage of money from sending you there. She loves to make assumptions about me without truly knowing me and just writes prescriptions and never follows up. It’s unfortunate that drs like her exist. We need to all write the CMA to report her. I am on multiple waiting lists to get a new dr but there is a shortage. Hope others will speak up

She is terrible!!! She can be aggressive and combative if you do not agree with her! Everyone is entitled to there own option I’m sorry especially when it involves yourself! I am the doctor she says lol really.
I would rather go to a hospital even with covid than to talk to her. She causes me anxiety and I have never felt this in regards to any doctor!! Not everyone get the same level of suppose to be professionalism!! Sad 🙁 I can’t even find a new doctor right now….

  we appreciate your opinion , but we have to clarify few points :
  
  – we don’t have a patient with this name in our data system unfortunately , to check on your case , and scenario ,so we assume it’s a nick name or a fake review .
  
  – Despite you say that : ( every one is entitled to their own option especially when it involve your self ) , I agree with you to certain degree.
  Though when it comes to medicine , or health issues , searching the internet for your diagnosis , and next step in management is not the best option .
  and coming to the doctor and try to force the doctor to do what you want is not in your best interest for your health , and some times the doctor need to say no , or its not indicated , and give you alternative to that after her assessment .
  or on the other hand , taking time off of work for a long period of time , and ask the doctor to grant / or keep you off of work without clear reason , illness to justify that , or supporting investigations and documentation can be very hard . Like any other professions , we all work within rules , and limits , Doctors are the same , and they can’t lie , or go by what you think they should write in your form to extend the leave .
  
  – I can reassure you that Dr. Kassem will do her best to help you , and look after your health , and your needs without you searching the internet at all , or getting your own diagnosis , management . The best advise ,when you go to any doctor , LET THE PROFESSIONAL DO THEIR JOB , THEY ARE EXPERT IN THAT AREA , AND NOT DR. GOOGLE ,OR THE INTERNET . and don’t try to push things and force them to do it , as it could be not in the best interest for your health.
  
  – As I said before , we don’t have you as a patient on our data system , to check and try to address your concern in particular , but at any rate , I’m sorry that you felt this way , Though you need to Trust that Dr. Kassem is there to help her patients and the community , and NOT TO ARGUE with you or any one else .   Dr. Kassem treats every one wether staff or patients in professional way .
  Unfortunately , we have some times to ask some new staff to leave after receiving soo o many complaints from patients about them : rude behaviour with our patient And been inefficient at work , which is absolutely not acceptable .

Awful experience. During my appointment I was told that I need to go elsewhere to seek assistance and that she “could not talk about my condition forever,” as she stated that there were other patients waiting when I had a genuine medical concern that had not been addressed for years. It’s always nice to know that my own family doctor does not care to help me, and that there are more important patients waiting.
