It’s sad to see the negative reviews about Dr. Abuhassan here. I’d like to defend his name because personally I have had a different experience with him altogether. I have found him to be empathetic, supportive and patient. Although there were a few times where we didn’t see eye to eye, so to speak, I still feel that Dr. A tried to remain open minded. He has even gone out of his way to help me in other ways when a simple medication would not be the answer.

A psychiatrist specializes in medication. Many of them are known for rushing their patients out of the office after writing a script based on a 5 minute appointment. I want to emphasize here that Dr Abuhassan did not do this to me and I was his patient for 7 years. Many of our appointments were spent with him just taking time to listen. No medication requested/required in those moments nor was he pushing medication on me. He was simply showing up as a compassionate human and that is a very valuable quality to have when it comes to helping someone with mental health issues.

One more thing worth noting is how Dr A. helped me feel like I was a part of my own treatment plan. He gave me a lot of trust in regards to choosing a direction when it came to trying new meds and reporting my symptoms/progress etc. His trust in me helped me feel more confident in myself and it helped me trust him as a doctor too.

In conclusion, I feel grateful to have been connected with Dr. Abuhassan and thought it would be only fair to add a positive review here.

I have ADHD. There are attributes to this condition that I can control and others that I struggle with. Anxiety, forgetfulness, inability to finish things among others. I am a good man with a good life. I was released by Abouhassan because I missed one too many appointments. I ended up in crisis and my family doctor graciously got me an appointment. I wound up going to my appointment one day early. My bad. Being that I tend to mess up appointment times, I left one hour early from Belle River so that if I messed up my appointment time I would be guaranteed to be on time no matter what. I ended up in a traffic jam caused by city workers. I got to Wyandotte and Ouellette at 3:30 when he called and said I was ten minutes late. I was less than a block away. He refused to see me. I tried to explain to no avail. He then told me to do my appt while I was driving in Ouellette traffic. No where to stop no where to park. I believe talking on a phone is distracted driving. I’m done with our medical system. Nothing but an entitled script writer. I’d rather deal with ADHD on my own than deal with a doctor with a script pad and a pen as his go too.

Is there a reason you stalk your patients online? Are you trying to keep an eye on us? Do me a favor: do not ever contact me and do not leave comments on my social media, either. Move on with your life.

I have had many psychiatrists but this was by far the worst. Finding out he was slutshaming me in my medical files was so wrong and unprofessional. :/// he would lie and force unnecessary help and was just genuinely the least empathetic and kind psychiatrist I have ever spoken to. Especially if you’re a female do not go to this psychiatrist. He also said that i was lying about my mental health in my files… I did not trust him and that’s why I stopped seeing him abruptly. Also always made me feel so stupid ESPECIALLY when talking about female issues.

Dr. Abouhassan is the only doctor who cared enough to let me know that I was misdiagnosed. I am bipolar and not schizoaffective. These two diagnosis may not seem very different, but to me there is a world of difference. Since I was 25 years old I’ve had the fear of recurring symptoms of schizophrenia and bipolar because I was diagnosed schizoaffective, and no one cared to change my diagnosis even though I was doing ok in general and did not have recurring symptoms other than depression and fear (catastrophism mentality). For many years I was unable to get my life together. I had a lot of fears especially of individuals who I found to be prejudice towards me in the medical community because I’m from the Middle East originally. Dr. Abouhassan has been the best doctor I could have ever asked for. He is knowledgeable, fair, and kind. I am beyond grateful to God that Dr. Abouhassan is my doctor. I will never stop appreciating his professionalism and his genuine and caring character. Please don’t leave Windsor ever Dr. Abouhassan. We all need you here in this city. Thank you for everything.

Dr. A is empathetic and understanding. I am far from the perfect patient, but Dr. A never gives up on me. He is one of my top 5 favorite people on this planet.

Dr A has been my psychiatrist for about 6 years now and he completely changed my life. I’m not the wreck I used to be it took awhile to get here but it was all him who guided me through. I still deal with mild depression but not like I was. I was lost and scared when I met Dr A. I can honestly say that he has saved my life. Great doctor.

Continuously made me feel stupid for the entirety of my visit. Kept looking at the clock and cutting me off / talking over me when I tried to explain why I came in. I expressly asked not to be put on a certain medication because I have a family history of bad reactions to it and he basically told me I had no choice regardless of the fact that it gave my father extreme suicidal thoughts.
